I thought that I should point out to everyone's attention that Matt Stevens released a new CD called Ghost just last week. It took me a little while to get to listen to it; the meta data had left the GENRE section empty (which is probably appropriate!), but my iPod is too small for all of my music and so I sync by genre's and playlists - I tried several times over a couple of days to sync the CD and it kept not showing up. Yes, as you can probably tell, I DID finally figure it out.
This is another amazing piece of work! I truly, truly love it, and I'll recommend it to all of my friends who have a more tolerant view of music. If you don't know, Matt is a huge proponent of PROG. And I mean truly progressive. I guess that's about the best way to characterize Ghost: it's mesmerizing, spellbinding music that challenges the listener to go on a musical journey that doesn't follow convention. There are some passages that I would consider "difficult listening" - Matt plays with rhythm and melody as only someone who's mastered them and knows the rules can break those rules at will. Personally, I LOVE this kind of stuff!
If you're looking for an acoustic album to be sweet and folksy, you'll find a little bit of that here, but this probably isn't the album for you. If you like Guitar Craft, The California Guitar Trio, or want to know what Fripp would sound like on an acoustic with a looper - then you WANT THIS NOW!!!
Matt is selling the download (at a price that you name!) here: http://mattstevens.bandcamp.com/. Be sure to friend-up with him on Facebook too (if you're on there) here: http://www.facebook.com/mattstevensguitar
Let's show a fellow Blissner some support!

I just got my CD from Matt at the weekend, but haven't had a chance to listen yet. I loved his last album and he releases various other tracks for free via his blog
http://mattstevensguitar.blogspot.com/
One of these days I hope to see him play live and actually meet him. I've seen some of his on-line gigs, but I know he's had to cancel some recent gigs due to on-going back trouble.
Get well soon Matt.
